 Mayberry Campground in Mount Airy

Thursday September 8th 2022 thru Sunday, September 11th 2022

We all gathered at the Mayberry Campground, up on the hill, backed in, near the large shelter and kitchen building. Our Hosts, Clennon Vasser and Kathy Powers welcomed us with appetizers and good conversation. We invited over another Tiffin owner couple from Texas who were camped in our area. They also had some great stories to share.

Friday morning Clennon and Kathy provided doughnuts and coffee in the morning. Then most of us did day tours of the area. Some stayed in the campground and played some games that Kathy and Clennon brought. Friday night we went to the Depot restaurant in nearby Dobson. Always a great meal there.

Saturday we were again free to do tours or visit with friends. We had rain on and off for part of the day. We decided to go out to eat again instead of chancing it raining again. We found a restaurant in Mount Airy, 13 Bones. While waiting for our meal we had a quick meeting. The food was good and we managed not to get wet.

Sunday was departure day for most of us. Mount Airy is a great campground and we all had a good time, despite Saturdays rain.

 Tanglewood Rally a huge success!

Thursday, June 9th 2022 thru Sunday, June 12th 2022

First let me thank Dona and Jack Branson for hosting this rally. And also, Kirk Wells from Campers Inn in Clemmons, for providing us a great cookout dinner on Friday night at the campground shelter.

Thursday was arrival day and Dona and Jack provided yummy snacks at the shelter. We sat around and caught up with old friends and met some new friends. Friday most of us went on a tour that Dona and Jack arranged - Mrs Hanes Moravian Cookies. The tour lasted about two hours and was very informative. The cookies are all hand made and we got free samples of every variety and flavor. Lots of cookies were also bought at the end of the tour.

Friday afternoon we were on our own for touring, shopping, or just visiting with friends. Friday night we were once again treated to a delish meal prepared by Campers Inn Super Salesperson, Kirk Wells. He brought his cooker and all the food and we feasted.

Saturday there was a corn hole tournament with the winners awarded prizes. It took a long time as none of us were very good at it.  The rest of the day was spent however we wanted, with most of us visiting each others campsites chatting. Saturday night we all went to the local mexican restaurant for a good meal. Then we went back to the campground shelter for our meeting.

Sunday morning most of us departed towards home - another great rally was over.

April 2022 Rally at a new campground just south of Winston-Salem - Salem Breeze.

Our latest rally was held last weekend, April 28th - May 1st. We went to Salem Breeze Campground for the first time as a club. This is a fairly new campground, developed and owned by Robert Sells, who also owns the Cool Breeze campground in Galax, VA.

The route in was easy. At this time there is no prepayment or deposit, just make a reservation and show up. The campground is small, about twenty sites, and it gets busy on the weekends.  Currently there are no bathroom facilities so your RV must be self contained. The sites are mostly pull throughs, with a few back ins. Each site is level and long enough and wide enough for easy access with a tow vehicle. Full hookups with 15/30/50 amp electric. Water pressure is high so bring your regulator. No cable at this time, but I was able to scan in about 35 local channels for the TV. There are several nice areas to walk your pets. Robert provided us the use of his large storage/office building, where he setup tables and chairs for us - worked out great for our Saturday night potluck dinner and meeting. There is no bathroom in this building but your coach is close by. Robert recommended a nearby restaurant for our Friday night group dinner - Arcadia. The service were very good and the pricing was great for the quality and quantity of the food. Go early as they get very busy.

We had a good mix of club newbies and veterans. Eight couples came in their coaches and two more joined us for dinner. Several couples had family commitments, work, or traveled during the day, but we all got together for nightly meals. On Friday most everybody went their own way during the day. Friday, late afternoon, the Hoopers treated us all to smoked chicken wing appetizers at their site - very tasty. On Saturday several people got together for cards and indoor and outdoor games. Robert, the owner, gave me permission to wash my coach that day - it really needed it. Check out on Sunday was not until 2:00pm but we were all on our way home by noon.

Hope to see most of you in June, the 9th - 12th, at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC. We have the most level fifteen sites reserved for us. Call them before May 9th at (336) 703-6494 for your reservation. Check your email for more on this.

Sorry I forgot pictures again - somebody remind me next time please.
