Mayberry Campground in Mount Airy, NC

We had a great weekend at Mayberry Campground a week ago. Seven coaches with thirteen members attended this rally. We all came in on Thursday and we had a late afternoon welcome get together, arranged by our hosts Joyce and BB, with the help of  Buddy, their four legged companion.

Friday most everyone took the opportunity to explore the town of Mount Airy and the surrounding areas. A few even wandered into nearby southwest Virginia. One couple found an apple and peach orchard, bringing back a box of delicious fresh picked peaches. That evening most of us went to the the nearby town of Dobson for dinner at the Depot restaurant. Great meal, service, and company. That evening a few got together around the firepit.

Saturday was another day of exploration for most of us. Several couples found their way to that Virginia orchard for peaches and apples. Others did shopping trips into Mount Airy, while others stayed at the park under the shade of their awnings. That afternoon most of us were putting together our pot luck contributions for that nights dinner. Around six we all gathered at the shelter and enjoyed everyone's efforts. Some of those peaches found there way into a churn of peach ice cream that we all enjoyed. We followed up dinner with our meeting. After the meeting we all sat around the firepit until the last of the wood embers died down.

During our meeting we decided to help promote our club, and it's membership, by having tee shirts printed with our new logo and distributed to the current and future members. Current members who will be attending the holiday lunch in December should contact the club secretary, Mitzi, as soon as possible, with their sizing requests. The shirts will not be delivered, but if you are coming to an event and you give Mitzi enough lead time, the shirts can be brought there for you. Check your email for one from her about this.

Sunday morning we got together for a light breakfast, again supplied by our hosts. Someone remembered that this would be our last rally of the year and we had not elected officers for next year. After a little discussion we opened up another meeting session and elected officers for 2025, with the current officers serving another term. After that the process of packing up to leave before checkout time began. Another rally closed out with fond goodbyes and wishes for safe travels.

Our next get together will be our holiday luncheon, Sunday, December 8th, at 2 PM. We chose the Olympic Family restaurant located in northwest Greensboro/Colfax area, 8900 West Market Street, Colfax, NC 27235, (336) 605-4745. Please bring a new unwrapped small toy for a young boy or girl, or both, for our club to pass along to the US Marines Toys for Tots campaign.

A reminder about the 2025 club dues. First, your membership with the parent club, in Red Bay, at the Tiffin headquarters, must be current. If it is, you can renew your membership with the Piedmont Allegro Club. Check your email in December for more information about doing that.

Early summer at Tanglewood Park

Five couples of our group gathered together at Tanglewood RV park in Winston-Salem NC the first full weekend in June. We gathered together at Mike and Mitzi's RV and all squeezed in tight under the awning when a surprise shower sprung up in the area.

Each couple introduced themselves so we could all get to know each other better. Those of us that have been around a little longer (Kathy & Clennon, Joyce and BB, and Mike and Mitzi) found a lot of "common ground" of topics with our newer members Laura and Mark and Ed and Carol.

It turns out that two of the couples present head to FLA for the colder months and two others were not going to be available for Salem Breeze in Oct so we decided to discuss different "mountain area" options to gather late in Aug instead. We are now confirmed for Mayberry RV park Aug 22-25.

All five couples had 4-legged friends with them and took those adorable dogs walking all around the beautiful options at Tanglewood - some venturing further out onto the beautiful trails available. Friday evening we all gathered at LaCaretta Mexican Restaurant and we were grateful that other long term members, Don, Jim and Minnie, and Ed and Martha, were able to join us for the evening.

Saturday's festivities included a covered dish gathering with scrumptious additions from each RV. After dinner we held an important business meeting discussing the new bylaws sent out by Tiffin.  The document was sent out to all of our members today and we will continue discussion and then voting at the end of the 15 day review period.

Luckily, the business meeting didn't take too much time and then we jumped right into a fun and intense trivia game competition. Let me tell you - Ed blew us all away and we found out that he and Carol regularly win trivia contests down in FLA!

Sunday involved the usual packing up and heading out - slowed down quite a bit by coffee conversations at each campsite as we walked around to say farewell. We are already looking forward to our next gathering and hope to see many more PAC members gathered with us in Mount Airy!

Holiday lunch, 12/10/2023 - Moose Cafe in the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market

We had eleven couples celebrate the holidays on a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon.  The service was very good, the food was good and it came out fast. The prices were reasonable and the portions were large. No wonder we keep going back there. This was the last event for calendar year 2023 and it also began the terms of our newly elected officers. We had a short meeting after lunch. The activity schedule for 2024 was further discussed - see the upcoming events page of this web blog site. If you are a club member and you want to volunteer to be the camp hosts for our October rally at Salem Breeze campground, located in Winston-Salem, please contact our club secretary - see the contact information page of this web blog site. And, if you are a club member and you want to volunteer to fill the vacant position of Vice President and Wagon Master, you also, can contact the club secretary - see the contact information page of this web blog site.   Most of that officers duties as Wagon Master have already been completed for calendar year 2024 by our out going President, Kathy Powers, and Vice President, Clennon Vasser. Also, our clubs charitable donations to the US Marine Reserves, Toys for Tots campaign, and to the Central and Eastern North Carolina Foodbank were both confirmed.

We hope to see you all at the clubs spring luncheon on April 13th at noon. We are planning to have this event at the Campers Inn of Mocksville, the only Tiffin authorized dealership in North Carolina. We are working with Kirk Wells, from the dealership, to try to arrange this. Further details will sent out to the members in an email soon.
